Dentistry Department

The Dentistry Department is supervised by experienced dental professionals who provide integrated educational programs based on current knowledge and the latest technology. Students work with modern dental learning equipment such as dental simulators, complete clinical and x-ray facilities, and laboratories as they acquire skills in patient-centered clinical care.

DOCTOR OF DENTAL MEDICINE

PROGRAM OUTCOMES

The graduates of the Department of Dentistry program must be able to:

  • demonstrate an in-depth knowledge of normal human structure and function as well as abnormal and pathologic structures;
  • practice optimal care for patients through accurate diagnosis and treatment plan;
  • demonstrate effective communication skills and confidence in applying a systematic approach to diagnosis and providing comprehensive oral care        using an interdisciplinary approach to patients of diverse origins;
  • demonstrate knowledge, skills, and confidence in an interdisciplinary approach to patient management;
  • fortify skills in basic, experimental, and clinical researches; disseminate research outputs and findings; and continue to the development of new treatment options;
  • apply the principle of entrepreneurship, business practices and processes, and innovative technology in dentistry;
  • engage in lifelong learning and the understanding of the need to keep abreast with the current trends in the field of dentistry;
  • demonstrate social responsibility through involvement in community outreach programs; and
  • apply legal, ethical, and moral standards in the practice.

Laboratories and Facilities

  • Dental Infirmary
    The Dental Infirmary is located on the second floor of the Health Science Building. It is equipped with modern equipment that meet the demand of the course and  the evolving practice of Dentistry. Within the infirmary are the sterilization room and a conference room where clinical case discussion is conducted.

 

  • Dental Simulator
    The Dental Simulator room is housed in the Health Science building. These facilities serve to bridge the skills between the pre-clinical and the clinical cases to further enhance their clinical skills.

Department Scholarships

Various scholarship programs are available to qualified students, be they entering freshmen or continuing students. Freshmen may avail of a scholarship, which is renewable upon fulfillment of certain requirements. In addition, continuing students may apply for scholarships funded by the University itself, alumni, and friends of the University, and some corporations with interests in the University.

 

The University also provides financial grants to students who participate in extracurricular activities such as extramural, membership in the choir, leadership in student councils, or other similar groups.

 

Only one scholarship or financial grant shall be enjoyed by any student. In case a student is qualified for more than one university scholarship or grant, he/she may avail himself/herself of the higher or more generous grant.
