CEU Celebrates 113th Founding Anniversary with Hope and Gratitude

1 June 2020

In a time when the world is faced with challenging uncertainties, there remains a lot more reasons to see life as beautiful and be grateful for it—and that is how Centro Escolar University viewed and celebrated its 113th Founding Anniversary on June 3, 2020.

Veering away from its traditional celebration, CEU still made a meaningful way to commemorate this very special day through a short video posted on its official Facebook page with messages and greetings from the CEU community.

“We honor our founders, Maestra Librada Avelino and Maestra Carmen De Luna who believed in the value of education for our youth, for their future and for our country. This year, as the threat of coronavirus infection is so pervasive in the country, we must not lose faith in that bright future. His (God) promise of abundant blessings upon our undertakings joined by our fervent engagement will allow us to continue our mission of educating the youth”, said Dr. Ma. Cristina Padolina, University President and Chief Academic Officer in her video message.

The new normal may have prevented mass gatherings, but it did not hinder CEU to thank God for His faithfulness to the University through the years by celebrating simultaneous Thanksgiving Masses and Re-consecration to the Heart of Jesus in all its campuses via online livestreaming for the Manila campus, at the Immaculate Conception Chapel, Queen of Apostol Chapel for Makati, and Barasoain Church for Malolos. The CEU Singers Manila also rendered special performances online.
