This initiative was born out of a meeting of the CEU AFI officers and Chapter Presidents where its President, Dr. Paz I. Lucido pointed out that there are many CEU alumni frontliners who are doctors, nurses, dentists, optometrists, medical technologists, social workers, educators, and media practitioners. Dr. Lucido asked for recommendation on support programs they could create for the Escolarian frontliners. Mrs. Cynthia Santiago, CEU AFI Board Secretary suggested providing assistance to CEU frontliners by giving PPEs to minimize exposure to hazards that cause serious workplace injuries and illnesses. With this idea, came what Dr. Lucido considered as “God-sent” when she happened to mention the planned PPE donation while having a casual online chat with Jogee Nono-Goodwin, former CEU faculty who is presently based in Memphis, Tennessee, USA and an active member of the Memphis Mission of Mercy (MMM). Goodwin then referred CEU AFI’s PPE donation project to MMM President, Renato Noli Zalamea and his wife Norma.

With the received PPEs, Dr. Lucido’s team composed of Dr. Lolita D. Pablo, CEU Community Outreach Program Head and CEU AFI SELAMS Chapter President, Ms. Betty Lou Peñera, Media Relations Officer, and Mariah Sharmaine Liquigan, Office Secretary led the distribution of the equipment.
